Pete’s Nonna’s Meat Sauce

Ingredients

  • 28.2 oz. can crushed tomatoes

  • 1 carrot

  • 1 stalk of celery

  • 1/2 onion

  • 3.5 oz. sausage (1 link)

  • 3 oz. ground beef

  • 1/2 cup white wine

  • Salt, to taste

  • Red pepper flakes, basil, cloves, or just about anything else! (optional)

Preparation

  1. Cut all veggies to a medium dice.

  2. Add olive oil to a large sauce pan and saute veggies for 10 minutes over medium heat.

  3. Add sausage and ground beef and continue to saute for 5 more minutes.

  4. Add wine and tomatoes and cook over low heat for 30 minutes.

  5. Run immersion blender through sauce until a uniform texture is achieved.

  6. Add salt, to taste.

  7. Mix al dente pasta with sauce to preferred consistency and serve with parmesan cheese and a drizzle of olive oil.
